CRIME ALERT: Off Campus – Kidnapping/Robbery (Armed) January 31, 2012

Incident Summary

On January 31, 2012 the Towson University Police Department was notified that on January 26, 2012 a non-affiliate of the University reported to the Baltimore County Police Department that at 4:50 PM he was in his vehicle at the intersection of Washington and Allegheny Avenues in Towson, MD when he was approached by the below described suspects. One suspect displayed a handgun and told the victim to drive to an ATM. The victim drove to a bank on York Road and withdrew money from the ATM. The victim was then told to drive into the City where the suspects exited the vehicle.

Suspect Descriptions:

(1) Male, Black, 18-25 years of age, 5’8”-5’10”, dark clothing and dark gloves

(2) Male, Black, 18-25 years of age, 5’8”-5’10”, dark clothing, Afro hair style.

Anyone who saw the suspects or has information is asked to call the Baltimore County Police at 410-887-2361.

Crime Alerts are posted to notify Towson University community members of situations that could affect their safety, with the hope that the community members will take the necessary precautions to prevent themselves from becoming victims of crime. The Christmas holidays may have been a nice break for some students in Houston and Austin, but their return back to campus has been a big letdown, KHOU-TV is reporting. In Houston, some UH students students are demanding answers after a rash of break-ins at two  dormitories over the winter break, KHOU reports:

New Orleans -- With Wednesday’s gorgeous weather, being outdoors certainly had a lot of appeal.  But Uptown, in the University area, students and residents are fearful.

"I'm pretty paranoid in general.  I carry around pepper spray with me everywhere I go,” said Tulane University student Angie Baroffio.

Tulane and Loyola University students are being urged to turn on their awareness radar.

MU police take new look at '05 campus murder

University of Missouri police are seeking outside help in the 2005 murder of a microbiology professor.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that the case of Jeong Im is headed to a multistate law enforcement organization in Springfield for review.

The 72-year-old researcher was stabbed to death in January 2005 before his body was stuffed into the trunk of his car, which was then set on fire in a campus parking garage.
