6:24 a.m. - The App State Police Department has issued a crime alert in reference to an assault that occurred early Sunday morning.
Authorities said a female freshman told police she was assaulted by an unknown male on Rivers Street near the intersection with Stadium Drive around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
LAS VEGAS—Protecting students on an urban campus is always challenging, but when a university faces high levels of crime, including gang activity, ensuring safety requires more than a standard policing approach.
"It's frustrating to hear about electronic devices being stolen," says Dennis Cornwall, Training and Development Coordinator for the Department of Public Safety at Loyola. Indeed, PM Evergreen emails have been appearing more frequently in our inboxes calling students' attention to the rise of criminal activity in many of the campus parking lots.
On campus, students complain that Benedict College in unresponsive to requests to clean up and fix up certain amenities in student housing. Off campus, a recent break-in has students concerned for their safety.

March 26 — Vehicle Burglary – Unknown suspect entered a vehicle parked at the Village Apartments and took an iPod and cash. Report taken.
March 27 — Bike Theft – Unknown suspect took a bike from the Park Apartments. Report taken.
East Campus is the only neighborhood in comparison to West Campus, North Campus, Hyde Park and the Riverside area that has shown a consistent rise in both burglaries and thefts from 2005 to 2009, according to police reports.
Mystery solved. At 4:30 p.m. today, Towson University Police reported that they, assisted by the Baltimore County Police, Baltimore City Police and the Maryland State Police Crime Lab have made one arrest in the on-campus robbery that occurred at the Towson University Dorm Room in Tower B on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 3:30 p.m.
