LOS ANGELES — The parents of two University of Southern California Chinese graduate students slain near the campus last month have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the university, saying the school misled them when it claimed that it ranks among the safest universities.

A number of armed robberies occurred within the last week in the vicinity of the UC Berkeley campus, adding to a growing list of students and residents who have had their property stolen while outside at night.

There’s been an unusual spike in campus crime this spring, including 13 reports in April alone, according to Glenn Deckert, Gordon’s Chief of Police.
Last year, there were 16 crimes reported all spring.

“It’s been a rough month,” said Deckert.

Two female students at the University of Kansas have reported being attacked on campus in recent days and the suspect descriptions indicate two different perpetrators.

The Lancaster County District Attorney says he has not been asked to investigate the Franklin and Marshall College women's lacrosse team in a hazing incident, which the school confirms.

Tuesday, the school announced it dismissed Coach Lauren Paul and kicked 11 players off the team.

One man was wounded and another died of injuries suffered in a shooting Tuesday near the Virginia State University campus.

An 18-year-old VSU freshman was shot in the ankle about 4:20 p.m. during an apparent armed robbery in the parking lot of the VSU Federal Credit Union, which is adjacent to campus, said VSU spokesman Thomas Reed.

Two acts of vandalism Ohio State Police labeled hate crimes were discovered Monday — one in a university dorm and the other across from the Ohio Union.

The first incident involved racial and religious slurs, written on a door in Baker Hall East. The word “n-----s” and a swastika were written with permanent marker on a message board hanging on a dorm room door, said OSU Deputy Police Chief Richard Morman. Two females, one Caucasian and one African-American, live in said room, Morman said.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office is assisting Charlottesville Police Department in locating a wanted suspect who resides in our area. Charlottesville Police are still looking for Qadre Amon Dickerson, 20, of Martinsville, in connection with an incident in Charlottesville, VA where police arrested three people Sunday evening in connection with a robbery that happened Sunday morning.  Arrested in connection with this robbery; Quintorrian Lee Carter, 20, Lee Horace Butler III, 22, and a 17-year-old male, all of Martinsville, were arrested and charged with robbery, burglary while armed with a deadly weapon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  The robbery happened in the 500 block of 14th Street Northwest, Charlottesville, VA Sunday morning, when the four men entered a house and flashed a gun.  The victims were University of Virginia students.

The University of Montana has notified students of possible sexual assault near the campus. They say the incident was reported around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Virginia’s colleges and universities have quietly investigated hundreds of students, employees and others in recent years to prevent a repeat of the Virginia Tech massacre of 2007, when a student gunman left a series of increasingly disturbing warning signs before killing 32 people and himself.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Kansas State University student is facing charges after police say he was caught with stolen items from various offices on campus.

The Kansas State University Police Department released the following statement Thursday on the case: "A K-State student was arrested after the K-State Police recovered over $2,000 in stolen property after a search warrant was served in the student housing area on campus. The arrest was a result of an ongoing investigation of burglaries to offices on campus. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available. Arrested in the case was Jared A Hardinger, 22."

Three months into the new year, crime in the Penn Patrol Zone has been declining.

This March, total crime went down three percent overall in comparison to March 2011.

Crime reported on the University’s Lawrence campus decreased last year, according to the 2011 criminal offense report released by the KU Office of Public Safety Thursday.

The report showed that 660 crimes were reported on campus in 2011, down 4.6 percent from the 692 crimes reported in 2010.

Last week's attempted sexual assault at Salisbury University served as a sobering reminder to students that their small campus on Maryland's Eastern Shore is not immune to crime.

New facts released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reveal crime on college campuses is up in the state of Tennessee.

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) Many students at Coastal Carolina University say university officials should have notified them about an on-campus sex assault sooner than two days after the crime.

CCU Spokeswoman Martha Hunn tells WMBF News officials didn't think the crime warranted an automatic alert.

On March 23, 2012 at about 1:30 a.m., Eugene Police responded to a report of a robbery near the Holiday Inn at 2177 Franklin Boulevard. The victim, an adult male, reported being approached by two men who beat him, took his wallet, and chased him to the lobby of the nearby hotel. Suspects were described as white males between 20-30 years old, with brown hair, wearing baggy clothes. One was described as thin, about 6-feet tall with a baseball hat; the other was shorter with some facial hair and a blue-and-white beanie hat.

Crime near Fresno State affects both students and the community and students and residents are fed up.

"It's really scary to walk by yourself at night and we actually just had a girl get mugged recently," said Maddie Maximo, Fresno State student.

A young college student struggles for her life while she is repeatedly stabbed for simply remaining friends with an ex-boyfriend. Blood skews her dorm room walls as she screams for any sort of savior from this heinous attack.

Several reports of crimes occurred Monday on the NC State campus.

Tuesday, ABC11 reported on one of those incidents that prompted a crime alert email to students. Now, students are wondering why they were never told about the other incidents.
