University of Michigan Police = Unarmed Robbery South Quad

U-M DPS Crime Alert #15 for an unarmed robbery outside South Quad residence hall has been canceled. Thanks to numerous tips from the University community after the crime alert was issued, a suspect was arrested by University Police at approximately 11:35pm Sept. 23 near Hoover and Green streets. The 41-year-old Ann Arbor man will be taken to the Washtenaw County jail to await formal charges and arraignment.

A student was walking along the sidewalk when he was grabbed by an unknown man, who pulled him several feet off the sidewalk and demanded money. After the student gave him money, the man fled on foot westbound on Madison.

Suspects:

1: Black male with a dark complexion; about 30 years old; 6' tall with a medium to muscular build and a protruding brow bone. He was wearing a short-sleeve shirt; light-colored, knee-length shorts; and light-colored sandals with buckles. He also had a cord around his neck that held keys and a yellow card (not an Mcard).
